MXR M251 FOD Drive Pedal
The MXR FOD is a rare and new concept in overdrives and distortions, a blended drive. Sure, we've had pedals that mimicked classic amps for a long time, and some of these are iconic, the Marshall Guv'nor, The Sansamp, Carl Martin's Plexi Drive. The FOD gives you not one, but two classic amp tones, with a blend between the two.
For years, the biggest guitar sounds have been recorded in the studio with multiple dialed in stacks, mic'd and mixed together. Now, MXR has shrunk that into a pedal you can take out live.
Controls are like a standard three knob distortion: Volume, Gain, and Tone. They added a blend knob, which blends between the High Gain and Crunch gain channels; and a three position switch with different levels of mid-scoop, which can take you from late seventies arena rock to eighties scooped metal in a responsive, dynamic box.
This pedal is based around the architecture of the Green Day Dookie pedal, with a few under the hood enhancements.
What MXR Says: The MXR FOD Drive recreates the experience of blending the overdriven sounds of two highly coveted amp stacks right from your pedalboard.
This pedal can be powered by a Dunlop ECB003 9-volt adapter, or the DC Brick™, Iso-Brick™, and Mini Iso-Brick™ power supplies (not included).
